In that position, she led a 450-person career department, which works with 12 volunteer companies within Prince William County, Virginia as a combination Fire-EMS system. In September 2007, Mary Beth was appointed as Deputy Executive Director, Administration and Operations Chief, at the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) in Fairfax, Virginia. She currently works on contract to the IAFC, leading the Fire Service Executive Development Institute which educates the next generation of fire service leaders. Mary Beth has been recognized for her professional achievements, including being selected as the 2003 Career Fire Chief of the Year by the IAFC. She also was awarded the IAFC President's award in 1997 and again in 2005. In June 2019 the METRO Chiefs Association recognized her with the Lifetime Achievement Award. She is very active in her community, serving on numerous policy and volunteer boards. She was recognized in 2017 as one of the “Influential Women in Prince Women County”.
